Suzuki Violin Studies

“Where love is deep, much can be accomplished.” - Dr. Suzuki

Recipe for Success

Dr. Suzuki created a method to teach music as a language.
Children naturally learn their mother-tongue easily with a few ingredients:

  1. Begin Early - when a child’s brain is scientifically proven to be most open to acquiring new languages. This is the same area of the brain that processes music.

  2. Parental Involvement - we coach parents how to give positive reinforcement and build home environments which inspire and motivate children to love music.

  3. Repetition - repeating new skills while reviewing old ones builds ability and confidence.

  4. Group of friends - by learning the standardized repertoire, students are able to play in weekly group class with their friends. Children learn leadership and ensemble skills in a playful environment.

  5. Step by Step - learn songs that are singable and gradually get more difficult; build upon acquired skills, adding vocabulary.

  6. Weekly Private Lessons - Regularly see a master teacher to fine-tune and personalize the learning process.

  7. Listening - Surround the child with beautiful representations of music (daily listening); listen as often as you hear people speak.

  8. Delay Reading - we learn to read after we learn to speak. Once the child’s foundation of beautiful posture and tone are strong, we'll start learning to read music.

Parents as Partners

You do not have to be a musician to be a successful Suzuki Parent.
The “Suzuki Triangle” of Parent, Child and Teacher is integral to the process. We will regularly check-in to make sure you are confident in your home practice.

Suzuki offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to strengthen the parent-child relationship. Your child will gain many skills as they strive for excellence in music and life.

Private Lesson and Group Class

Suzuki students participate in weekly Private Lessons and Group Classes as part of the standard curriculum. Parents attend both, take notes, participate, and practice daily with their child.

Private Lessons are scheduled by appointment on weekdays. Your teacher will recommend what length of lesson is appropriate for your level, either 30, 45 or 60 minutes at the same day and time weekly.

All Suzuki Students are required to participate in a weekly Group Class in addition to weekly Private Lessons. Group Classes also welcome students from other studios with their teacher’s approval.

In lieu of trial lessons, what we offer is a private lesson balance refund during the first 4 weeks of the semester if you find our program or teachers aren't a good fit. This gives everyone more time to get to know one another.

The Suzuki Method is more than music; it’s a holistic philosophy: an approach to music that enriches students’ self-esteem, self-awareness, and parent-child relationships. We believe Every Child Can develop their ability and character through the study of a musical instrument.
